Dr Nick Lister has taught astronomy, to all ages and levels, for over thirty years. He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and is passionate about ‘getting people involved’ in this wonderful science.
In 1999 he joined the independent, co-educational, Rossall School in Lancashire as Astronomer in residence. His first task was to oversee the restoration of the school’s ‘Cooke & Sons’ Victorian refracting telescope back to scientific working condition and it is now the only one of its type in operation anywhere in the world.
In 2004 Nick successfully gained funding for the establishment of the Astronomy Centre upon the school’s grounds, and oversaw its development and construction, through to the formal opening in 2005.
Message from Nick:
“ALL our courses are aimed at enthusing everyone (!) – always full of the best ‘wow factors’ surrounding this tremendous subject – none of them are ‘hard’ or ‘complex’. This is YOUR centre – YOUR chance to do some astronomy. If you have ANY questions, need more information, or if you have any other specific ideas or needs regarding ‘anything astronomical’, please do get in touch! Email, or ring if your prefer (please leave a message if I’m not ‘in the office’ – I will always return your call…)”
